Thriller at the vale

Penalty blast win at last

A dramatic 1st round cup victory for our newly formed u18a,both teams played there part in 120 mins of dramatic, exciting end to end football.10 days ago we suffered a disappointing defeat away at Willesden Constantine, and today we lock horns once again ,with a score to settle.on a typical rainy cold windy morning, our visitors were running 45 mins late, our boys were eager to get going, weather conditions were poor, but when Willesden Constantine finally arrived, the terrential rain had past leaving the pitch which was firm, but that top surface skiddy uncertain bounce which was going to add spice to this mouth watering encounter.our boys won the toss and kicked uphill, stones started well, getting use to the pace of pitch, and all that waiting around but it was Willesden who opened the scoring, with a well taking goal,we equalised 3 /5 mins later with some good all round one touch passing with our young gun Rhys to fire home brilliantly, game restarted teams were at eachother end to end ferocious tackling but fair heart and desire with aggression thrown in,it was developing into smashing game,on half hour Willesden took the lead again with a great cross shot that beat our charismatic keeper,at the restart we kept plugging away and got awarded a penalty just before the break aaron stepped up and dispatched it home 2-2 at the break we ran back to changing rooms.and regrouped, fuelled up,and went out with new and fresh team spirit that has lacked in recent weeks the game restarted, with our boys challenging every tackle chasing every ball, when suddenly Luke perry made space and slotted the past keeper to put us 3-2 up,boys were buzzing but there was still so much to play for,Willesden kept pressing forward and a rare mix up wit keeper and they pulled the score line back to level terms, then Willesden scored and went ahead 4-3 and my lads ,started to look defeated, the boys captained by Ely,started rallying eachother and encouraging one and another, and again Luke perry brilliantly slotted in the equaliser, game on,4-4 what a game 10 mins left, straight from the restart we hurrried and pressed and false then on a defensive error and Luke perry finishing was superb,5-4 yes I'm telling ya 5-4,with minutes remaining Willesden equalised and took the tie into extra time. What a game ,credit to ref he was brilliant,30 mins extra time still locked at 5-5 that it final whistle Penalties.in my heart win or loose my lad took a massive step showing me loyalty desire and sheer determination,I asked the group for five pen takers ,they came forward straight away, one of the taker was a Ricky villa in the 81 cup final when he got subbed, and he came back as a match winner, kev boje stepped up and slotted home ,Willesden put ball on spot ab our keeper was dancing on line and made a great save, then ely stepped up and slotted away,Willesden scored then Alan stepped up and coolly slotted home,Willesden scored 3-2 then Aaron Lyall stepped up to put 2 goal advantage, and he scores,4-2,Willesden score 4-3,last penalty is with hatrick hero Luke perry, who stepped up and blasted home ,and put us into round two ,what a feeling boys went mad it was great to see, fantastic character we showed throughout this bruising encounter, and I looked up to the heavens and a beautiful sight of a rainbow touched me COYS thanks for all your support,we are away at st Joes next week ,I might put on some coaches for our fans lol thank I feel great lol, major thanks to my partner Ronnie welch too fab guy too.
