Magix 0 - 2 Wealdstone

Another win and a clean sheet for the blues. A scrappy encounter on a difficult pitch was decided with two first half goals from the blues. The boys started well and put Magix onto the back foot from the off. We were winning the ball back regularly but the uneven pitch was not helping with passing and as such the we were struggling to create too many clear cut chances. The first goal would soon come however, good work from Michael to close down and pressure the Magix defence resulted in a poor clearance that fell to Fred G on the edge of the box. He did well to get the ball under control and out of his feet before hitting a shot that drifted over the keeper and into the net 1-0. We continued to look comfortable, the defence of Danny, Jamie and Alex were looking strong and winning lots of challenges and when the ball did break through Jack was on hand to sweep up the danger. We would soon find ourselves two nil up and it came from the penalty spot. Good link up from Tommy and Michael saw the later get through on goal and after his first two attempts being saved by the keeper the third was also saved brilliantly on the line but by a defender, penalty. Jamie stepped up and calmly side footed high to the keepers left and into the net, 2-0. Half time and we were looking comfortable. The second half started again with us looking in control, Fred s and Tommy were working hard on the wings and trying to get crosses in, a couple of good ones just lacking a finishing touch and Oscar seemed to be everywhere winning the ball in midfield and pushing us forward. The game continued to be scrappy and we never really looked under threat, the defence were looking strong and Jack was backing them up well despite having no gloves ?. The game got a bit niggly towards the end but credit to the boys they never wilted and fought hard right to the end. The game ended in a 2-0 win, which I think would have been more on a better surface. Oscar was a deserved MOTM, a great performance bossing midfield with some great tackling and not giving Magix any time to play. Special mention for Danny too, who ran Oscar close for MOTM, defending strongly and making some great tackles. Well done to all the boys again, everyone of them fought hard as a team and kept playing well despite some not well timed challenges, we should be proud of them all for keeping their heads and concentrating on trying to play some good football in difficult conditions. Thanks to Paul for linesman duties ⚽⚽
