The cream always rises to the top...
Springfield almost avenging their 0-2 defeat earlier in the season, were shell shocked when Wealdstone hit a last gasp equaliser to draw 2-2.
Jason shuffled the pack slightly this week, with Luke continuing to deputise in goal, Tommy & Anuj retaining their positions at the back, Jake, Jack and Harry in midfield and Riley returning to the fold to spear head the attack.
Springfield took the early initiative with some good chances but failed to convert. Harry started to find some gaps in midfield and began to supply some good balls into Riley, who went close on a couple of occasions. Harry again tests the Springfield keeper with his trademark right foot, but again is frustrated by some fine keeping.
Riley, Harry and Jack are really beginning to link up well and the passing is starting to develop, but the boys cant find that elusive final killer ball.
Springfield go on the attack with both Tommy and Anuj having to deliver some brilliant defensive work to keep them at bay. 10 minutes gone, Jack darts down the line passes to Jake who squares it to Harry .... GOAALLLL! Harry dispatches it pass the Springfield keeper with a blistering right foot shot. Half time, 1-0.
The second half gets underway, Dylan, Archie & Shaun replace Riley, Jake & Luke. Jack shows some great individual skill to fashion a chance and again is thwarted by the Springfield No. 1. Dylan goes close with a fine effort from range, but the Springfield keeper is keeping his team in it.
Springfield go in search of the equaliser and their No. 9 is brought down in the box. Springfield score the resulting penalty to get themselves on level terms, 1-1. The boys look stunned by the penalty against the run of play and Shaun has to pull off a great save, but unfortunately he is then beaten by a looping shot from 20 yards out, Springfield somehow lead the match 1-2.
Jack, Riley and Dylan combine really well to create another chance which is again saved by the Springfield keeper, who is definitely a candidate for man of the match. The boys really dig in, and push to get themselves back in the game.
2 minutes remaining. Some great battling from Tommy in midfield supplies Harry with a great pass, who beats the centre half... GOAALLLL!!! Harry lashes a cracking shot past the practically unbeatable Springfield keeper. 2-2.
Final whistle blows. 2-2.
The boys could have been out of sight by half time, but when they went behind they kept their heads up and the unbeaten run remains in tact. Well done.
Man of the match - Harry, with a superb brace and he typified the never give up team spirit.
