A Hard Fought Draw!!

The boys looked to avenge their narrow 3-2 defeat to Acton earlier this season and after conceding an early goal battled back to a superb 1-1 draw.

Jason fielded a strong side, with Luke between the sticks, Tommy and Anuj in defence, Finlay, Jake and Harry as a midfield trio and Archie spear-heading the attack.

The first half got underway with a hotly contested midfield battle, with Acton putting pressure on the Wealdstone goal in the early exchanges. The boys held firm with some solid defensive work from Tommy and Jake.

After the initial wave of Acton pressure, Wealdstone began to settle into the game, with some lively counter attacks from Finlay. Harry was busy in midfield, picking up a loose pass, powering forward and going close with a looping long range effort which narrowly misses the post.

Acton push forward again in numbers, with Luke pulling off a couple of fine saves to keep Wealdstone on level terms. Approaching the 10 minute mark, Jason makes a change with Dylan and Jack replacing Anuj and Finlay.

Dylan and Jake put in some good tackles in midfield, with Jack and Archie starting to make some good runs down the wings. Just as the boys were growing in confidence, Acton win possession and hit an unstoppable long range effort which Luke can do nothing about, Acton lead at half time 0-1.

The second half gets underway with the boys digging deep, Tommy again provides some brilliant last ditch defending to keep Wealdstone in the game. Harry starts to boss the midfield and with Anuj replacing Dylan the boys look to get themselves back in the game.

Harry, Archie and Finlay start to link up well and Finlay has a shot at goal which is saved by the Acton keeper. Wealdstone are again under pressure with Jake, Tommy and Anuj all having to make excellent tackles. Luke is called into action and once again denies the Acton number 8.

Another big kick out from Luke, gives Finlay the chance to burst down the line, he squares the ball to Archie who pulls it back for Tommy to shoot, but the Acton keeper does well to mop up the danger. The boys push on, looking for that elusive goal.

Wealdstone win a free kick on the edge of the box after some good battling by Tommy and Harry. Tommy whips in a devilish ball which finds Archie, who outwits the Acton defence and smashes a volley into the net.... GOOOAAAAL!!

The final few minutes see fine performances from all of the boys and despite a flurry of Acton pressure, the boys are not going to give this up. The final whistle blows, full time; 1-1.

A really we'll deserved draw, with lots of candidates for man of the match, but this week it goes to Tommy, who delivered a masterful performance at the back - well done!
