Wealdstone Roll Over Larkspur With An Emphatic Win..
Larkspur Rovers B 4 - 11 Wealdstone Youth C
Today's game was another away fixture against a solid Larkspur Rovers who average 2 goals against per game. We knew we needed to be right at it from the start to keep up the most impressive record in the U12's league and produce an 11th league win in a row.
Also today's fixture saw the debut of our new signing Oliver, after weeks of training with the team he was finally eligible to play with his new team mates.
Game kicked off and the team flew out at a high tempo, they set out to press high and close down the ball early, which had the opposition on the back foot. The team kept their shape well throughout the first half, which showed in a dominant first half performance. From the early pressure we got a goal off our first chance, Sean cutting in and placing a timid shot that managed to find the bottom corner. We then had a lapse in concentration and conceded soon after, from a set play which was really disappointing. But the players were right back at it and again had the opposition in trouble, a scramble in the box found its way to Harry who worked some space to score his (35th Milestone) goal of the season. George then extended the lead minutes later with a well placed shot to make it his second game in a row to score. Ben S added more misery to the opposition with a well taken shot from a tight angle before Harry was through on goal to get his second of the half. We dominated the whole half and deserved such a large lead, magnificent performance from back to front.
Half-Time; 1-5 Wealdstone Youth C.
The start of the second half the hunger was still visible to see, the players this time a little more over exuberant in their play as they chased for more goals. Two goals from Harry brought up his 3rd and 4th of the game, one being a superbly taken finish, a touch of the old Robbie Fowler DVD re runs. George also waded in with a another long range lob, that left the keeper stranded. Ben S added another from a tight angle to get his second of the match. Goal of the day went to new signing Oliver, who produced a diving header from a corner that went through the keepers legs. Wealdstone then completed the rout with a fantastic passing move, Sean working with Ben S dribbling down the left side and playing a ball to Elliott, who wrapped up the victory. Despite conceding some preventable goals, it was an all round great team performance, as we continue to put Wealdstone on the map with the style of football and attitude of a great team.
Final-Score; 4-11 Wealdstone Youth C.
Player Of The Match; Ben S, George.
