Wealdstone Top The Table With Great Comeback..

Wealdstone 4 - Ruislip Town 3

This morning's opponents were Ruislip Town, a team we have beaten on two occasions, once in the cup and then recently in the league. Some amazing Milestones were in reach today, a win would lead to our 10th consecutive league win, making us the most successful team not just at Wealdstone FC, but the entire Under 12's league and see us climb to the summit of our own division.

Also a special mention for the returning Daniel, who's come back from a long injury and making his first competitive game for Wealdstone Youth.

The match started off at a slow pace and lacked any enthusiasm for such an important game. The players looked flat footed and we were down early on, with their number 14 who gave us trouble all game worming his way far to easily through our defence and setting up the first goal of the game. The players picked up the work rate but they weren't keeping shape and the opposition were all over our defence. We found a little fortune mid way through the half when the ball was worked out to the left and after the first shot was blocked it found it's way to George who's deflected shot looped over the keeper. That was the best bit of the half, the players got caught flat footed again off two set plays and came in the at the end of the half dejected and looking like we were out of ideas.

Half-Time; 3-1 Wealdstone Youth FC.

Second half a change in system and some motivational words to the players, saw an improved performance and a lot more determined team effort. All the pressure was on the opponents and we restrict them to their own half, we create chance after chance, Sean cutting in and striking from 20 yards hitting the post. Kavin pushing up high up the left creates a chance that just goes wide, added to that we create a another chance which sees Harry shot saved and Ben S shot cleared off the line. It was starting to look like one of those performances, but then the pressure finally tells. A ball down the middle, Harry runs on to it, beats the defender and rounds the keeper and brings us back into the game. A similar situation again sees Harry through again and he calmly rounds the keeper again making it 3 - 3 showing great composure under pressure. With minutes left, both teams are going for a win. Daniel battles past two players linking up with Ben S and Sean, who plays the ball to Harry who runs on and places it into the top right hand corner with minutes to go. The players dug deep and showed great character and amazing desire. Everyone worked hard and all deserved what this win means for us as a new team.
Final-Score; 3 - 4 Wealdstone Youth FC.

Player Of The Match; Harry.
