Stones win local Cup Derby !!!
Stones into final 16 !!!
Wealdstone progress to the last 16 in the County Cup following a comfortable 4-0 win against local rivals Ruislip Rangers.
The Stones produced their most accomplished performance of the season, playing some good passing football through the thirds and rarely looked troubled.
Ruislip were under pressure from the kick-off but the Stones had to wait until the 20th minute to make that pressure count. A great through ball from Alfie found Ryan wide on the left. Still with work to do he turned his marker and curled a right foot shot from the edge of the 18 yd box into the bottom corner. 1-0 Stones.
The Stone's second came on 28 minutes following a superbly struck free kick by George who had stepped up into central midfield for this game. George's free kick struck the underside of the bar with the keeper well beaten. It may well have crossed the line but Ben followed up intelligently to head the ball in and leave the referee with no decision to make. HT 2-0 to Wealdstone.
Ruislip started the second half well and looked to have their 10 minutes in the game but were unable to break down the Stone's defensive unit.
Wealdstone continued to press and were rewarded with their third goal when Joe finished off an attack, slotting home at the far post. 3-0 Stones.
The Stones continued to stretch Ruislip and were retaining possession well, moving the ball well and making full use of the pitch and the decent playing surface.
Joe rounded off Wealdstone's day with his second of the game and Wealdstone's fourth with a neat finish past the on-rushing keeper having outpaced his marker.
A great team performance and some good football played by all. The team played with a much better shape and moved the ball well throughout the whole game.
