This was my first time in sole control of the boys on match day without out master of knowledge Dave so was a little nervous on how the boys would respond to me. Sundays fixture saw us come up against a pinner side which had a few boys known to our players through school etc It meant our boys new we had to be on our A game to stand any chance. In recent weeks Dave has had unbelievable patience and perseverance sticking to his philosophy on passing and moving even though results have not gone our way We have been seeing signs of the boys developing there understanding. On Sunday things really did start to click for the team. We started really well and set a target of at least 3 shots on goal for the first 10 minute period. This target was met pretty quick as we had numerous shots on goal. Our break through came when we were under pressure ourselves and counter attacked with Aitor and Dylan playing one twos from inside our own half with the final outcome Aitors fierce shot finding the bottom corner.
2nd period again saw Pinner putting us under pressure but some great saves by Alf in goal and some superb defending by all the boys especially Archie and Adhvik meant we could hold our 1-0 lead. We made some changes as some of the boys were showing the effects of there efforts and needed a break. This saw the introduction of Freddy and Dexter , there quick play and constant closing down meant we again were peppering the Pinner goal , finally getting our second after some great pressure by Dexter and Freddy meaning Freddy got his chance to slot the ball home. 3rd and 4th quater saw Pinner getting there rewards for some great play meaning they pulled it back to 2-2 we managed to keep it that way by an unbelivable Save in Goal by Farryl. All in all a fair result more importantly signs of further development from our team. Full credit goes to Dave who although was absent can see his style of play and philosophy bearing fruit.
