Brace for Riley
We previously beat Rangers Blue in a tournament 1-0.
Goals - RIley, Emilis, Sam & Matthew
We were quick out the blocks Riley played a ball round the corner to an unmarked Emilis on the right he shot through the keepers legs, 1-0. When Thomas tripped a forward in the box, the referee pointed to the spot, Filip stood up big and saved the penalty, but the referee ordered a retake, to allow a substitution, which was hit wide. Sam then took a heavy touch at the back, but Filip saved well. Second quarter Matthew smashed a clearance from the right side near the halfway line, it was on target and caught the keeper, Barnaby out, eventually tipping it in, half time 2-0.
After the interval, Sam got on the end of a corner at the back post, 3-0. Rangers then hit us on the break beating Filip with a hard shot at the near post, 3-1. Riley then had a chance to clear, but when it was blocked, a good finish made it 3-2. At the start of the fourth quarter, we failed to clear our lines again and Rangers pounced on the chance to equalise, 3-3. Sam played a great through ball to Riley, stood in acres of space, he advanced, then finished calmly, in the bottom left corner, 4-3. As Rangers pressed, Riley hit them on the break another confident finish, 5-3. The game looked to be put to bed, but Rangers wouldn't lie down, pulling one back, 5-4. The referee added an extra three minutes, which was time for Rangers to go close to equalising again, but we held out, Full Time 5-4.
MOTM was Sam for two solid quarters at the back, an assist and a goal.
