Quater final exit
Parkfield U8A 0-0
I expected us to play Parkfield under 9B, but it was actually their under 8 A's playing a year up. Although physically smaller, they pressed well as a unit and were all comfortable on the ball, the result could have gone either way.
Our second game was against a Sandgate side who would go on to win the trophy. Another close game with both teams having chances to score and both teams happy with the draw.
Ruialip Rangers C 1-0
They currently play two leagues higher, but when Brihad played a quality pass through to Riley his cool finish opened our account for the tournament. Emilis then dribbled past half of their team before playing a precise cut back to Brihad, he shot powerfully from close range, but straight at the keeper.
They currently play in the league above us, but we were able to dominate most of the possession. A corner broke to Thomaas well outside the area and he hit a low, hard drive into the bottom left corner.
We qualified second in the group without conceding a goal, Sandgate were top with the same points but, scored two more goals.
Quarter Final - Harrow St Marys A 0-1 AET
St Marys were the highest ranked Harrow league team in the tournament, playing three leagues above us. Despite being unbeaten in the other league, they finished third because they had drawn three games. We more than matched them in normal time and the match headed into extra time, unfortunately Filip mishandled a rolling ball and conceded for the first time. We had chances to equalise but, when their keeper dropped the ball and obstructed our attackers by sitting on it, the referee awarded them a free kick. To rub salt in the wounds their manager told him to stay down and pretend to be injured. St Marys went on to the final only to be beaten by Sandgate on penalties.
