United fight back to draw
Corker from Alfie
We have never played TFA United before and our game in January was postponed.
Goals - Kaidyn, Alfie
In the pre match warm up, we did a quick reminder of yesterdays training - Looking if we have space to play into, taking a positive first touch and using the outside of the boot to be able to accelerate quickly.
We started quickly with a pass rolled to Kaidyn at the back left post who confidently rolled the ball in, 1-0. Alfie then doubled our lead hitting a worldie from outside the right hand side of the area which dipped over the keeper, under the bar in the top left corner, 2-0. I expected us to kick on, but when no one challenged a United player who dribbled from just inside our half to the edge of the box and rifled past Filip, 2-1. Second quarter Filip made a couple of decent saves, then Riley dribbled well, but his shot hit the crossbar. Half Time - 2-1
After the break we had a few scary moments, lost our shape and found ourselves hanging on, only poor United finishing saw us keep our noses in front. Chris was our second player to hit the crossbar with a long range effort. We also won a number of corners and although Alfie and Riley took up a good position and attacked the crosses, the delivery wasn't always great. Kaidyn met his personal challenge which was to implement the training and focus on taking a touch if he had space. With a couple of minutes left United capitalised on our inability to clear and scrambled an equaliser, 2-2. We had one last half chance when the ball looped to Alfie at the back post, but his volley came of the outside of his boot and sailed wide. If I am honest it was probably a fair result on the balance of play.
Scott had a good second half and is beginning to show some of the tough tackling and commitment that I see in training. However, I had already told Kaidyn he was my man on the match when the parents voted for him as their MOTM.
