Comeback in Final Period
Braces for Emilis and Alfie.
Our previous games against Hanwell Town C were a 3-6 defeat, 5 a-side over a year ago, an 8-1 home league win and a 1-1 away draw just before Christmas.
Goals - 2 Alfie, 2 Emilis, Riley & Sam.
Although there was no parking on site, once people got to the pitch it was worth the walk, probably the best sevens pitch we have played on. The first period we struggled to get into the game and a soft free kick was given five yards outside the area, it was taken well and flew into the top right corner beating Filip and over Alfie's head who was covering the post, 0-1. They added a second when we stopped marking in the middle, 0-2. Second quarter we pulled a goal back, Riley took a throw received the ball back, passed to Emilis in the box who calmly rolled the ball in, 2-1. Thomas had a decent chance receiving the ball a couple of yards out back to goal, he turned well but, his shot was too close to the keeper who dropped down to save. Half time 1-2.
After the break the game was tight and the only memorable chance in the third quarter was Chris hitting the crossbar from twenty yards. The final quarter was a goalfest, Thomas, playing left defence, played a great ball down the line to Riley on the left midfield, who took it to the goal line rolled a perfect pass for Sam to tap in, 2-2. Thomas then took a throw to Riley who hit a curling right foot shot towards the top right corner, somehow the keeper parried it to Alfie who connected with the ball as sweet as a nut into the left side of the goal, 3-2. Next a corner was half cleared and rolled to Alfie who rifled another crisp shot in off the left post, 4-2. As we started to get overconfident we over committed and were hit a the counter attack, 4-3. Thomas had taken half a dozen top draw corners and when one found it's way to Emilis who shot high into the net, 5-3. Riley then finished the scoring with a shot through a group of players, Full time 6-3.
