Great win with Chayden's hat trick
Wealdstone U7D beat St Joseph U7B
Match summary 5th March 2017:
After a morning of torrential rain/ bordering tropical storms it was a wonder the game went ahead given the pitch conditions.
Today Wealdstone U7D team played St Joseph's U7B team.
The problems with the weather meant there was a delay starting the game, which was a little inconvenient to the parents and especially to the visiting team. However, the parents of the visiting team were very accommodating and understanding and were happy to wait to ensure the game went ahead, despite having other commitments. We are grateful for their support.
After a productive warm-up Chayden, Alfie, Robert, Divij, Michael, Oliver K and Ronnie were ready for the game.
It wasn't long before we were 3 nil down and some doubters thought we were heading for another high-scoring defeat.
After a couple of position changes from the coaches, Alfie turned from goal saver to goal scorer and pulled one back.
With confidence growing it was clear that the boys had a whiff of victory and were hungry for more goals.
The fantastic team work and the fast thinking and footwork from Chayden meant we managed to pull back another. Taking our score to 3-2.
But Chayden was eager for more cheers and it wasn't long before he scored another to even the score. 3-3.
The parents were more than happy with a draw but the boys had different ideas. They wanted to win and Chayden wanted that hat trick.
With the game nearing to an end the golden goal arrived from Chayden.
St Joseph's put up a good fight and tried to regain control by attempting to score, but Divij was just too strong in front of the net.
It was relief all around when the final whistle blew and we had won the game. 4-3
This is not a first for us but our second victory since we formed. What was a first for our team was playing a mixed team which included with a young girl striker, Sarah.
Sarah played a strong game and was very confident on the pitch. A couple of the boys commented on how good she was and us parents thought she was a credit to the team and gave our boys as good as she got. Despite being knocked over in a tricky tackle she simply brushed her self down and got back to the game in hand.
As parents we are very proud of the team and of the fantastic job from the coaches and referees.
To win a game from being 3 nil down is amazing.
Keep up the good work !!!!
