Back from the mid-season break!

Plenty of chances, but Bushey hold on for a draw!
After 3 weeks without a game, Wealdstone Under 9 whites were glad to get back out on the pitch and play a match. On a muddy pitch in Bushey, Wealdstone started strongly, with Patrick showing his skill with penetrating runs down the left and Oscar regularly beating the defender down his flank. But at the back Wealdstone were looking rusty from the lack of matches and Bushey managed to score following a break down their right and cross to the back post. A second followed as the Wealdstone defenders stood off and allowed the Bushey player to strike a low shot from outside of the area. But Wealdstone did not deserve to be behind and after Oscar found some space he hit a hard shot, that was kept out, but fell nicely for Patrick to head in. 2-1. The equaliser came before half time, with strong play from Aidan to beat the defenders and chip the ball cheekily over the goalkeeper. 2-2. In the 2nd half the muddy pitch began to impact the game, with a lack of passing and some very direct football, nonetheless Wealdstone continued to dominate and Charlie's shot from the edge of the area made it 3-2. Chances continued to come with Oscar running well down the right, Harrison having a great chance and Adam volleying wide of the post. Defensively we were leaving our defenders exposed and both George and Thomas (who had to do double shifts in defence) made some great interceptions to prevented too many clear cut chances, when they did get through there was some great handling in goal from James. But then Bushey managed to break through the middle and slide the ball past James to make it 3-3. Wealdstone still had chances to win it, with Oscar through on goal and Charlie shooting over, but the ball just wouldn't go in the goal. Good to get a game and a respectable draw, but Wealdstone deserved more. Well played Thomas in defence, who dealt with the attacks very well and looked assured in his distribution - Man of the Match.
