A even game between 2 strong sides
By Andrew Bell
With lots of free kicks for Hendon!
A keenly fought match between 2 strong sides. Hendon were physical and had some talented players, they started strongly and managed to drag our defenders into wrong areas. This resulted in them having a few chances with attackers free in front of goal. Aidan, on his debut in goal, made a couple of great reflex saves but they managed to sneak one it to take an early lead. Growing in to the game we started to dominate possession and press well up the pitch, Adam driving things from centre midfield. But the pitch was small and so it was difficult to get space; Patrick, Harrison and Oscar running down the wing but unable to squeeze the shots in past the keeper. A few balls into the box, but again their keeper was quick off his line. 2nd half and Wealdstone continued to dominate, resulting in a long shot from Aidan that made it 1-1. Appeals for a Wealdstone penalty were predictably ignored! Hendon were limited to shot from free kicks (which the ref seemed very generous in awarding), but brave defending and good goal keeping from James and Adam kept it level. An even game, but we'd love to play them on a bigger pitch!
