Wealdstone U8A vs Elite Magic
A good way to get back to winning ways for Wealdstone
Playing back at the Vale meant an 8am start to help put out the goals for the game, this is something we had not done for a while and there were some glazed eyes and weary faces. The ground was very heavy after a fair bit of rain the evening before and the pitch was not in the greatest condition even with not being played on for a few weeks. The morning was dry and at some points the sun came through the clouds to give a feeling of warmth to the morning.
Elite Kicked Off. Elite had an early chance which saw Owen tip the ball over the bar. Troj intercepted the ball and had a quick shot which was saved and Troj then struck the rebound wide. Troj got the ball and drove into the box, Alex came in from the right and shot low into the goal (1-0). Owen took a long kick which came to Alex who placed the ball passed the keeper (2-0). Elite had a good break and shot but Owen made a good save. Owen kicked the ball long to Troj who struck first time but it went just over the bar. Alex went on a run on the left and crossed the ball to Darcy who struck first time and scored (3-0). Alex had a good opportunity in the Elite area but shot just over. Elite had a quick break and brought a good save from Owen and then put the rebound over. Charlie intercepted the ball in defence and passed it to Darcy who went passed the defender and shot and scored (4-0). Jon with a free-kick to Harry S who turned and shot but it was well saved.
Wealdstone Kicked Off. Oliver with a long ball through to Troj but his shot was just wide. Harry S passed to Harry W who shot across goal but it went just passed the post. Elite had a break and scored (4-1). Good passing move by Elite which resulted in a shot which Owen saved. Troj with a free kick on the left which Jon touched on but it was saved. Elite had a well taken free-kick goes just wide. Jon with a free-kick to Darcy but he just couldn’t turn it in. Corner by Jon which Alex headed just wide. Oliver intercepted the ball in front of the goal but shot just wide. Ref blew for full time.
The game was a relatively easy win for Wealdstone who were never in any danger of losing. Wealdstone started the game with some good passing moves and showed their superiority over Elite early on. As the boys tired and the ground became more cut up Wealdstone played more direct and gave the possession away to Elite more often giving them more shooting chances. The game was won by the start of the second half and the manager was able to make many changes giving the boys more game time and the chance to play in different positions, this meant that the play was less cohesive and Wealdstone didn’t score as many goals as they possibly could have.
