WEALDSTONE (Under 10 C) 7 - CELTIC (Under 10 B) 2

Our Wealdstone boys literally smashed it out the park today with a 7-2 win away from home!

The Wealdstone starting line-up:
Bailey (GK)
Tommy Rocco
Oscar
Ryan Jamie
Michael
Subs: Danny & Josh
On another wet and muddy Sunday morning, the Wealdstone boys put the pressure on Celtic B from the moment the match kicked off. We quickly settled into our positions and it didn’t take long before Jamie and Michael were attacking with good attempts on goal. When Celtic moved foward Tommy, Danny, Rocco and Oscar were there to sweep up any danger.
Wealdstone’s pressure finally paid off with Michael scoring the first of his 2 goals (1-0). It didn’t take long before Jamie took advantage of the Celtic defence with a shot hitting top bins (2-0). Wealdstone were all over Celtic and their coach was losing it on the side-lines, having to raise his voice to remind his team to get closer but our boys were too quick. 4 minutes later Josh passed across the goal to Jamie who neatly shot the ball in the bottom left (3-0).
We continued to pass and keep possession well, however, Celtic somehow managed a goal just on the edge of half time with a rare attack. Half time score 3-1.
In the second half Wealdstone continued to dominate the ball and barely let Celtic come over the half way line. A beautiful cross-field pass by Oscar sent Michael down the field and his shot smashed against the crossbar after a great run. Michael kept the pressure on and passed to Ryan who calmly shot at goal. The keeper got a hand to it but fortunately the ball rolled into the back of the net (4-1). Michael was all over the pitch and his determination paid off with his second goal of the match (5-1).
Celtic managed to get into our half but Rocco and Tommy were solid at the back. Bailey, playing the whole match as goalkeeper for the first time, didn’t have to make too many saves but he looked comfortable throughout.
Josh and Michael worked tremendously together and peppered shots at the Celtic goalkeeper, finally resulting in a goal for Josh (6-1). Josh’s enthusiasm continued and he planted another ball at the back of the net (7-1).
Celtic managed to score an exceptional goal from a long way out in the last minute. However, with a final score of 7-2 it was clear that the Mighty Yellows deserved the comfortable win.
Man of the Match: Every player played well but Michael just edges with great attacking play throughout the game and 2 goals. He also hit the woodwork 4 times!
