Panthera vs Wealdstone U10 Red
By Aidan King
Wealdstone lose in tough away fixture
This season we have had some very close games with Panthera with the previous two meeting being 2-2 draws. Panthera are a very strong team who are very good at passing and pressing the ball when they are not in possession. This being our last game of the season we were looking for a real good performance to take us into the summer calendar. Panthera’s home ground is very good and the pitches are very flat and well maintained. The weather was sunny and warm.
Panthera Kicked Off. Zach with a pass to Oliver who played it back to Zach but his cross was blocked. Harry with a corner to Alex but his glancing header went wide. Panthera with a break and two quick passes but the shot hit the post. Harry with a cross to Zach who shot first time but it came back off the post. Panthera with a penalty, Owen dived the right way but the ball was too well struck (1-0). Good passing between Jon and Troj but were unable to carve a shooting chance. Passing break good passing and scored (2-0). Panthera with good pressure in midfield and had a shot which went wide. Harry with a good cross which was well blocked and the keeper was fastest to the loose ball. Panthera with good passing and shot which went wide. Half Time.
Wealdstone Kicked Off. Alex with a dribble in the middle of the pitch and a long shot which was stopped by the keeper and Alfie put the loose ball wide. Troj with a long shot which was saved. Charlie with a tackle high up the pitch and cross which was headed clear. Long ball by Panthera well read by Lewis to cut it out and good recovery to clear. Alfie and Jon with good interplay on right and shot was blocked and Jon’s shot went wide. Full Time.
Panthera deserved the win in this game overall, they were really good at passing and switching the play when they were in possession. When out of possession Panthera were really good at pressing the ball and putting us under pressure. The game as a whole had very few actual chances and neither keeper had to make many saves, most of the game was played in midfield with both teams cancelling each other out for large parts of the game.
