TFA United vs Wealdstone U10 Red
By Aidan King
Disappointing second half saw Wealdstone lose
We have played TFA United twice previously in 7 a side games, the first meeting was a win for TFA and the second was a win for Wealdstone. Both the previous meeting TFA were a relatively average team with one stand out player who could win the game by himself. On the back of two wins Wealdstone turned up in confident mood and with goals under their belt. The weather was cold, raining and windy and the pitch was very heavy and not very flat.
Wealdstone Kicked Off. TFA break good pass to leave the striker one on one with Owen who was quick off his line and the striker put it wide. Alfie ball to Jon, early pass to Troj who shot wide. Troj with the ball on the left played it inside to Charlie who beat his man and placed the ball passed the keeper (0-1). TFA with a cross from the right, Owen got his hand to it but the striker was there to finish (1-1). Freekick by Harry towards goal which the keeper got his hands to but Troj was first to the dropping ball and headed it in (1-2). Throw by Alex came back to him and he shot first time but it was saved. Through ball by TFA read well and cleared by Connor. Troj Beat his man and played the ball to Jon who played it through to Charlie but the ball was deflected wide. Harry corner to Troj who shot wide. Corner to TFA played in and knocked out two or three times before TFA had a shot wide. Half Time.
TFA KO. Dribble by TFA played in the striker who scored (2-2). TFA with break and dribble and scored (2-3). TFA break dribble and shot wide. TFA pressure and break, Lewis tackled well and the ball struck the striker and went out. Harry corner to Alex who headed it in (3-3). TFA good passing and shot wide. Long ball by TFA the striker turned and shot which Owen saved. Ball into TFA striker which Alex cleared with a superb tackle. TFA corner into box which broke to the striker who scored (4-3). TFA with a quick break and goal (5-3). Jon won the ball and made space for the shot but it was saved. Full Time.
This was a very disappointing result for Wealdstone who played well in the first half and deserved their lead. The second half really didn’t go well and TFA could quite easily have scored more goals. Wealdstone fell apart as a defensive unit, individuals had good performances but as a collective Wealdstone didn’t defend well in the second half. TFA were playing long balls up the wings or over the top and were getting numbers up the pitch quickly to assist the striker if he was first to the ball, this left our defence isolated and needed the midfield to track back and help out.
