London Eagles vs Wealdstone U9 White
By Aidan King
Wealdstone make it five wins in a row with a five goal display
London Eagles are another team who have been promoted from the B league and we have not played before, they are a Polish team so are likely to be well organised and hard working. The pitch was in very good condition although was a little bit bumpy and sticky. The weather was very clear and bright but very cold, it was made even colder by a strong breeze.
Wealdstone kicked off. Stevie with a run on the right and a cross to Oliver who shot but the ball was deflected wide. Eagles with a fast break which Harry read well and cleared. Eagles with a break but the striker over ran the ball. Alex with a run and pull back to Harry but his shot went wide. Troj with a run on the left and shot but it went well wide. Troj with a ball to Alfie but his shot was blocked. Oliver with a ball inside the area but Charlie couldn’t quite get his shot away. Eagles with a Crossfield ball and first time shot which went wide. Stevie with a clearance played first time by Oliver to Troj who shot wide. Oliver stole the ball on the edge of the area and played in Charlie who had his shot well blocked. Eagles with a break and had a one on one with Owen but Owen read well and saved. Eagles with a good attack and the striker was in the area but shot wide under pressure from Stevie. Ball broke to Oliver who played in Alfie but he struck his shot wide. Charlie with a tackle in midfield he then played in Alfie who struck the ball home (0-1). Half Time.

Owen with a long kick that Alex headed on for Harry who shot first time but it went wide. Harry with a corner that Alex met with a shot which was touched onto the crossbar by the keeper, Charlie was following in and converted the rebound (0-3). Eagles with a break and good passing move but Owen saved the shot. Eagles with a ball down the middle, the striker went passed the defender and scored (1-3). Alex with a through ball to Troj who struck first time and scored (1-4). Good pressure high up the pitch by Wealdstone and the defender played the ball back to the keeper and a second defender put his foot out and diverted the ball into the goal (1-5). Ball by Alex to Oliver who crossed the ball into the box, the ball was met by a defender and there was a bit of a scramble but Wealdstone couldn’t get a shot on target. Crossfield ball from Troj to Harry who played the ball back to Oliver, Oliver crossed into the box but the keeper nicked the ball from Troj’s toe. Full Time.
London Eagles were a very defensive and very organised team. They were happy to play the game with two defenders who never went forward and a central midfield player who filled in as a third defender. It appeared that their game plan was to draw 0-0 with the hope they could nick a goal on the break. Wealdstone had to be very patient in the first half and only managed to score right at the end of the half, this being said they did have at least four very good chances before the goal Wealdstone came out in the second half and scored almost straight away which forced London Eagles to come out and attack which left lots of gaps in their defence. Wealdstone were able to take advantage of the increased space and score the additional goals to make the game a comfortable victory.
