Parkfield vs Wealdstone U9 White

Poor second half performance sees Wealdstone well beaten

Parkfield vs Wealdstone U9 White

Parkfield have always been a good team and our games have generally been close fought affairs whether in the league or in tournaments. Parkfield have had a good start to the season and at kick off had the same record as Wealdstone, although they were probably ahead of us on goal difference. The pitch was in a good state and the weather was bright and dry and without a wind felt quite warm.

Wealdstone kicked off. Long kick by Owen deflected on to Troj who shot wide. Parkfield dribble and shot over the bar. Parkfield with a shot from distance which hit the post and was cleared. Parkfield with a dribble and cross the striker shot first time and hit the post. Lewis with a tackle and pass to Stevie who played in Oliver but his cross was well cut out. Harry S with a tackle in defence and pass to Oliver who crossed to Stevie but his shot was deflected just wide. Wealdstone with some good pressure high up the pitch and the ball broke to Alex who shot wide. Troj with a good run on the left and cross to Stevie whose shot went wide. Parkfield with an attack and a high ball into the box which Charlie calmly headed back to Owen. Oliver with a throw into the box which broke to Stevie who shot just over. Stevie with a strong run and cross into the box but Oliver was just too slow for the tap in. Parkfield with a throw and shot which went just wide. Half Time.

Parkfield kicked off. Long ball by Parkfield which resulted in a shot which went just over. Parkfield with a shot which Owen saved and was cleared to the edge of the area but the Parkfield player was first to the ball and scored (1-0). Harry S with a ball which found Charlie, Charlie played in Troj whose shot hit the crossbar and went over. Stevie with a corner which was flicked on by Lewis to Charlie who shot on the volley but the keeper saved well. Parkfield with a long ball down the middle and the striker picked up and scored (2-0). Corner by Stevie to Troj who headed over. Stevie with a run and cross which Troj met but his shot was saved. Parkfield with a break which Harry W read and intercepted the through ball and cleared. Parkfield corner close to goal and the striker scored (3-0). Wealdstone pressure and the ball broke to Harry W on the edge of the box but his shot was saved. Parkfield with a break and pass to leave a player free but Harry W tracked back and put in a good tackle. Full time.

This was a game of two halves. Parkfield started fast but once Wealdstone had weathered the storm they were in full control. The team were playing well with good passing and moving and creating chances as well as preventing Parkfield from any scoring opportunities, at half time it felt as though it was just a matter of time before we scored. After half-time it felt as if the team had forgotten how to play together, we didn’t seem to want to pass or track runs. I felt that on too many occasions players were dribbling or taking shots when a pass would have created a clear cut chance. Against strong, well organised teams like Parkfield we are always going to struggle if we do not play as a team, do not pass when we have the opportunity and do not track back as a team.
