Slow start costs win but impressive second half restores pride.......
Worst behaved parents/coaches in 4 years sour game as Blues fall to narrow defeat.........
After last weeks battling spirited performance we hoped to build on and bring that into this game.
As often happens we started slow and found ourselves 2-0 down, not sure how as the game was fairly even but it just wouldn't fall for us with neither team really impressing. A dazzling run down the right wing by Tyrai who cut in onto his left unleashing a shot to the top left corner saw us pull one back before half time deservedly so to make it 2-1. We had several chances to draw level or take the lead but it just wasn't to be.
Another slow start let them get an early goal in the second half from some slack defending and then it was all Wealdstone. I'm not exaggerating to say we hit the bar or post on 4 occasions along with a couple of goal mouth scrambles and good saves from the keeper and several close shots from distance it just didn't look like it was going to be our day. A run from James and shot parried by the keeper put away by Tyrai for his second goal and a well deserved one for the team saw a tense last 10 mins.
This was when the nonsense from the opponents parents/coaches boiled over. Constant questioning of the referee, disputing every decision that didn't go there way including throw ins on the half way line and the time being played. Parents swearing in front of 9/10 year olds showed how desperate they were for a win. Probably the worst behaviour I have witnessed in 4 years with this team.
Despite constant pressure and some extremely close chances we couldnt find the equaliser but we left with some pride and our heads held up high. Second half we battered them and played some really good football at times. Players that stood out today were Tajuan at the back, Tyrai especially in the second half, Mason a real menace up top, James some intelligent and skilful wing play, Lewis T done well at the back but showed his quality in Midfield and Sam at the back but impressed more going forward, so close to a goal. The other boys all played well in the second half Harry made good saves when needed, Oliver strong at the back and creative in the middle. Lewis W good at the back and played some good passes to start attacks, also sacrificed the last 8 mins to keep our pressure on when the boys were well on top. Very unselfish.
Goals, Tyrai 2
Assists, James 1
