Blues play well but draw last league game
2 referee decisions cost the boys a win in their last league game.......
The boys really put on a performance in their last league game as they looked to avenge a defeat earlier in phase 2.
First half the boys were simply excellent continuing on from last weeks performance and deservedly went 2-0 up with 2 goals from Mason assists by Danny and Lewis T who had stepped in last minute for Harvey. Then the first of the poor decisions when a penalty was given for a hand ball when the ball was struck from close range hitting the forearm of Sam in front of his chest. No one appealed for a penalty as it wasn't one but it was given anyway. The penalty was converted to make it 2-1. The boys pushed their disappointment aside and carried on as they had and deservedly got another goal when Mason played in Danny who went passed two players to finish nicely with his left foot to make it 3-1 which is how it was at half time.
Second half the boys continued to play well but the passing dropped off a bit. Bessingby came into the game a bit more and created some more chances. From a corner that we failed to clear they pulled one back to make it 3-2. Very soon after Mason charged down the defender who struck it straight at him from close range the ball came loose to which Mason reacted quickest pulling away from the defender neatly rounding the goalkeeper to slot home only for the referee to call it back for a free kick for a handball on the halfway line???
Chances came at each end after that and we came close to extending our lead but it was Bessingby that struck next when a bit of a goal scramble saw them poke it across the line to equalise. We kept going with Lewis T from a long range free kick and a lovely run down the right which ended in a shot into the side netting when maybe a cut back would have been better. There were a few chances when maybe the desire to try and get the winner rather than pass to someone in a slightly better position didn't happen and the game finished 3-3 but to us it really felt like a 3-2 or 4-3 win because of the 2 bad calls from the ref.
Everyone put in a shift and a performance today. MOM went to 2 boys Ollie and Mason. A big thanks to Alex who got Mason to the game at late notice and was rewarded with 2 goals and a MOM performance.
