Scrappy game ends in a comfortable win for the blues

Wealdstone 4 - 0 TFA Bushey

Scrappy game ends in a comfortable win for the blues.

After last weeks cancellation everyone one was happy to be back in match action, Jack was missing so Fred G deputised between the sticks for the first half. The game started slow and scrappy and this was to set the tone for the rest of the match. Bushey were a strong physical side and we found it tough to get a hold of the ball to start with. We soon won our first corner and while Bushey were still getting into position marking, Fred S played it short to Michael who took a couple of touches to set himself on the corner of the area before angling a curling shot into the far top corner, a great way to open the scoring, 1-0. The half continued in the same manner with neither team really getting a grip on the ball, any danger was being dealt with expertly by Ryan, Danny and Jamie at the back and with Oscar once again breaking up the play in front of them we rarely looked in trouble. We were beginning to get a bit of joy on the right hand side with Fred S working hard and linking up well with Michael to put in some dangerous crosses and It was Fred S who almost doubled the lead with a good shot from the edge of the box only for the Bushey keeper to make a good save. We then almost scored from the resulting corner as Ahmad couldn’t quite get a proper touch on the ball as it fizzed across the goal. The half ended with Fred G called into action to make a good save as Bushey broke our back line for the first time. 1-0 at half and a deserved lead. A change at half time saw Liam go into goal and swap with Fred G and Alex made his long awaited return from Injury coming on in a familiar left back role. The game continued to be scrappy but it wasn’t long before we managed to get the second goal, Jamie won the ball on the half way line with another good tackle and immediately swept a ball though to Michael who despite a heavy first touch managed to get past the keeper and tap into the empty net, 2-0. We seemed to get a bit more of a hold on the game after the second goal and Bushey seemed unable to get out of their half and it would soon be 3-0. A good corner from Fred G caused confusion in the area and Michael was able to lay the ball off to Jamie on the edge of the box and he drilled the ball into the corner giving the keeper no chance. Jamie soon almost scored again a Fred S corner this time caused mayhem in the box and the ball fell to Jamie at the back post but his shot cannoned back of the bar and to safety. As the game entered the last five minutes Bushey began to put us under a little pressure and we were grateful to Liam for a good save, pushing the ball over from a good shot. We still had time though for one last attack and after good defensive work from Ryan the ball found its way out to Kyal on the left wing, he looked up and delivered a great cross into the middle where Yusuf ran in to tap home for his first Wealdstone goal, 4-0 and full time. Man of the match was given to Jamie for a goal, an assist and another solid display at the back and special mentions to Alex, who looked like he’d never been away, Oscar who seemed to win every tackle and Michael for a great first goal. A big thank you from Myself, Ray and the whole team to Fred G and Liam who stepped up in Jack’s absence and both did brilliantly in goal. Well done to everyone of the boys on another good win even if the game was a bit scrappy everyone of them gave 100% again and we should all be proud. Thanks to John for linesman duties ⚽⚽⚽⚽
