Solid Win

Wealdstone 2 - 0 Brook House

First clean sheet of the season ends in victory for the blues

On a cold afternoon the boys put in another solid display to follow up last weeks performance with another win. The pre match preparations had been hit with a training ground injury to Alex (we wish him a speedy recovery) but the boys did him proud in his absence. The early part of the game was a bit scrappy but we were well in control with the back three of Tommy, Danny and Jamie helped by Liam in front of them winning all the loose balls and driving us forward. Several chances came and went with Michael's pace and pressing causing problems for the Brook House defence, it was only some sloppy finishing and a good display from their keeper that was keeping the score at 0-0. We were still seeing plenty of the ball and Danny and Fred S were combing well on the right with the latter putting in some dangerous crosses that unfortunately came to nothing. You could sense a goal was coming and it soon did, a long ball forward from Jamie at the back after more good defensive work was chased down by Michael who managed to get in front of his man and ran in on goal before hitting a rising shot into the roof of the net, 1-0 and thoroughly deserved. Brook House continued to press but whenever they were able to get past our excellent defence Jack was on hand to mop up the pieces in true sweeper keeper fashion. The half came to a close with us creating a few half chances with Danny and Fred S both going close to adding to our lead. Half time came with a deserved 1-0 lead. The second half started very much the same as the first with us continuing to win the midfield battle, Oscar getting a foot in to break up many attacks and moving the ball quickly to start our attacks. We continued to create chances, Ryan was linking up well on the right with Danny, who was winning every challenge and then Kyal working hard on the left being pushed on by Tommy who was also winning every challenge and giving the Brook House forwards a torrid day. More direct running from Michael won a free kick on the edge of the area which Jamie curled round the wall only to see the ball come back of the upright. It wasn't long though before we got the second, good work from Fred G again in the middle of the park saw him create a yard of space before releasing Michael through the middle and this time he found the composure to finish strongly past the on rushing keeper, 2-0. Brook House to their credit continued to battle and only some last ditch tackling from Tommy and Jamie stopped them getting in on a couple of occasions. We were still proving a threat up front in the closing stages and went close through Kyal who just shot wide and Ryan who was unlucky to see his effort hit the inside of the post and roll across the goal line into the goal keepers hands after he was well beaten. The game ended 2-0 and a thoroughly deserved win. Again as last week it was another excellent team performance with everyone of the boys putting in an great display. Man of the Match was just edged by Danny, who didn't miss a tackle all game but huge credit must go to Jamie, Tommy and Jack too for a first clean sheet of the season. Special thanks to Paul for linesman duties and thanks to everyone who braved the cold to cheer on the boys ⚽⚽
