Fantastic team play

Last weeks Halloween horror show soon forgotten after a sparkling display from the boys !!

Kinja Youth 1 - 4 Wealdstone

Right from the off it was obvious that the boys wanted to prove last week was just a bad day at the office as they took the game to the opposition straight from the whistle. We looked solid at the back with Jamie, Alex and Danny strong into every tackle and winning possession back for us whenever Kinja broke. Liam was proving a good shield in front of them and seemed to be everywhere controlling the middle of the park. It was only a matter of time before we scored and after a couple of good chances it came. A corner was won which Fred G drilled into the front post where Danny stretched a leg to delicately flick the ball into the net for his first goal of the season. We continued to be in control of the game and it wouldn't be long before a second goal would come. Some good work by Fred G in the middle to beat his man and then thread a lovely through ball for Michael to run on and slot past the advancing keeper, 2-0. We continued to be strong and we were causing problems with Fred S, Fred G and Liam all playing great balls for the running of Ryan and Michael in behind the defence. The third goal was soon to come and again it was a great ball down the left channel from Alex for Michael who ran in and finished with a delicate chip over keeper, 3-0. The first half ended with us on the back foot a bit and we really had to dig in with some good challenges from Kyal,Thomas and Liam in the midfield and the defence were backed up expertly by Jack who was commanding his area well and providing that fourth defender at times. The half ended with a wonder save from Jack, springing to tip the ball from the top corner and round the post to keep the score 3-0. The second half continued in the same manner again Alex, Jamie and Danny all making strong challenges at the back and Ryan, Thomas, Kyal and Liam providing a strong wall in midfield. We continued to create chances and forced a number of corners that could have resulted in more goals with the quality of delivery from Fred G but it wasn't to be. However, the fourth goal eventually came from another great corner from Fred G (his 3rd assist) that Alex got his left boot to and flicked into the roof of the net, 4-0. We were still looking in complete control and the move of the match nearly resulted in a fifth, more great work from Fred S on the right won the ball back and he drove forward before slotting Michael in down the right, he ran into the box and squared the ball to Fred G on the penalty spot who connected sweet with his left foot only for their keeper to somehow flick the ball over the bar. With a few minutes to go we unfortunately conceded to lose the clean sheet that Jack, Alex, Danny and Jamie had deserved, Full time 4-1. A really strong performance from all 11 boys, playing some fabulous football at times, meant it was hard to pick a man of the match as it could have been anyone of them. However it was decided that Jack just took it for the world class save in the first half.
Special thanks to Anoop for linesman duties.
