Stones reach 3 successive league cup final !!!
5 finals in 3 years !!!!
Congratulation's lads a tremendous achievement to reach 5 finals in 3 years, to reach 3 consecutive league cup finals really is a remarkable achievement. Myself and Brad are proud of all the boys and lets hope we can win this one.
Todays semi final against Pittshanger was excellent at times, a few people have said the first half was our best performance of the season. Pittshanger beat us in the league earlier o in the season following some poor decisions and us playing poorly however today there was no repeat. The stones created so many chances Alfie hitting the cross bar from a great ball by David, Alfie also could have scored from a Reece cross that he headed over. Joe and Alfie also had efforts well saved by a fantastic pitshanger keeper. Wealdstone eventually took the lead mid way through the first half after some good play down the left Alfie beat his man before cutting the ball back at pace for Reece to smash home from a few yards out a really god goal. Wealdstone continued to dominate Matt went on a great run and was unlucky not to get a shot away before being tackled. Sam and Reece a constant threat continued to press and we looked good.
Then the inevitable a goal kick from Pittshanger completely miss judged by us allowed there striker in behind he was fouled on the half way line and from there a long ball into our box wasn't cleared 1 bounce and into the net an awful goal to give away and completely against the run of play. Pittshanger then built up some momentum and had 3 good efforts the first 2 brilliantly saved by Jake in goal and then finally cleared by George. Pittshanger continued to try balls over the top but Luke managed to head nearly every one away and when he didn't Sam was always there to clear up.
Half time 1-1
The second half started 3 subs made and change back of formation and we completely dominated the second half Jake in a goal didn't have a save to make, the stones took the lead early in the second half the opposition keeper kicked the ball Alfie controlled it played in Joe who brilliantly went around the oncoming keeper and slotted the ball into the net a superb finish. Moment's later is was 3-1 some good play why the stones and great through ball by Alfie to Ryan who beat his man with pace and skill and was bought down for a clear penalty. George little was handed the responsibility and he made no mistake from 12 yards beating the keeper 3-1.
Wealdstone continued to press and a well taken Lewis freekick was met by George and somehow the keeper kept it out and the rebound fell to Ben who volleyed over from a yard out. Ben then turned provider great skill down the right beat his man and cut the ball back to Reece who should have scored but again well saved. Domm picked up a ball on the half way line beat 2 players and struck a great effort but again well saved this was the story of the second half so many chances but all well saved.
Men of the match Sam and Reece.
Well done lads proud of you all.
