Wealdstone U9 White vs Parkfield
Poor start to the second phase for Wealdstone
After a long Christmas break with our last game of the first phase and our first game of the second phase being cancelled Wealdstone had not played a competitive for 6 weeks. The team were up for the game though and hoped that we could make amends for the previous meeting which Parkfield won 3-0. The pitch was in very good condition considering the weather and was very firm. The weather was cold and cloudy but without rain.

Parkfield with a break which saw them 4 strikers against Lewis who stood strong and made a well timed tackle. Connor intercepted a ball and passed to Stevie who played in Harry W but his shot was saved. Full Time.
This game was extremely disappointing as Wealdstone started the game well and looked to have control of midfield and even though Parkfield scored an early goal they looked the better team. With the first batch of substitutions the game seemed to change completely with Parkfield dominating the midfield and being first to the ball, they seemed to be able to nullify all of our attacks and every time they went forward they seemed threatening. Wealdstone did not seem to get any hold of the game in an attacking sense until after Parkfield had scored their fifth goal. Wealdstone seemed to be lacking work rate in attack and midfield and at some points of the game it appeared to almost to be a training game of attack versus defence with our two defenders up against three or four Parkfield attackers. Wealdstone’s passing was also well below par with a lot of passes being under hit and not finding the recipient or players not looking up before they pass the ball and hoping that it will find somebody. Hopefully this is just the side effects of a long break and next week the team can pull things together and prove how good a team they are against Ickenham.
